Final Reflection
This course helped me transition and learn some techniques for writing at a college level. Coming from high school and english not being my first language, it tends to be difficult for me to write my thoughts and ideas on paper. This English class, the professor's feedback and my tutors assistance helped me learn and write all my papers. At the beginning of class the assignment was to develop a Literacy Narrative about any skill, competence or knowledge one has acquired. I decided to write my narrative on cycling since I started cycling during my senior year of high school, cycling was a sport that made me get out of my comfort zone and meet new people and also to do something that I was passionate about. We first started with a draft, then the draft was peer reviewed by our classmates, then to be revised and edited into the final narrative. The other main paper was an exploratory essay in which I choose to write about how Technology and its platforms are making humans more lonely. The purpose was to inform the reader about the topic without taking a stance but being subjective. While writing this paper I learned how to look for scholarly peer reviewed articles to support my information.
This techniques didn't just helped me in this english class but also in other classes when looking for credible sources. Writing the journal entries helped me better understand the content that the professor would provide on blackboard. Also the reflections at the end of every main assignment were very helpful since it made me think about how I developed my papers, how I revised it and how I came up with my ideas. Writing my research paper was our last assignment, it was very interesting but at the same time a bit stressful. I choose a topic which I found relatable to develop ideas on and interesting as well, that topic was Dream Anxiety Disorder. The first step of writing the research paper was to develop an outline, concept map and write out the thesis. I wrote my annotated bibliography where I mostly searched for all my sources and summarized them, this step made writing the first draft very easy. Then I revised my draft, made some edits, and added other points that were required to finish my final paper.
