Journal Entry #5
During the library session we had at the library with Professor Sean O’Heir, I learned how I
could activate my ID to use it in any CUNY library. I learned that I can get books from other
CUNY colleges if they are available. The professor also taught us how to accurately look for
valuable sources on the City College online library. While we were in the session the professor
explain how to navigate through all the databases that the college provides us with. I also
learned that every book has a call # which makes easier to find when looking for it. When
borrowing a book from any CUNY library the time limit is up to four weeks for student,
professors or other faculties get a longer limit time.
The research tools and strategies given by Mr. O’Heir were very beneficial, because now is easier for me to look for more accurate sources when writing a research paper or a paper where I would need sources to back up the information I’m giving the reader. The services provided by the library are very helpful for example you could reserve a book or textbook that you need for class and make copies of it for free. Also the online library offers tools like the Cite and Save which I find very beneficial when it comes to making the reference page.
