Nightmare Disorder/ Research Proposal

Should You Start Taking Constant Nightmares Seriously?
The
idea that I want to propose for my research paper is on Nightmare Disorder. Also
known as dream anxiety disorder, is a terrifying disorder described by the occurrence of repeated dreams during which the sleeper feels threatened and terrified. Nightmares are vivid, detailed dreams that cause worry or fear, often exposing the dreamer to experience horrifying visual and emotional turbulence. I selected this research topic because I personally suffered from having constant nightmares. At that time I used to find it unexplainable, but then as I started researching the topic and becoming more familiar with it, I began to feel less terrified. This topic is important to me because it’s very relatable. So far I have done research and have conducted a survey on four males and four females. My goal is to inform individuals on a topic that is very common and that some people rarely take into consideration. Nightmares are a common phenomenon experienced by nearly everyone. Although they might not be given much thought or consideration, they are a prominent factor in the life of others. Those who experience constant nightmares and night terrors may have underlying psychological and neurological disorders.
I will start developing this paper by making an outline about the important points I want to elaborate later in my research. Then I will start searching for my three scholarly peer reviewed articles on nightmare disorder in the City College online Library. On how it affects humans? What causes people to have these terrifying dreams? Is it more common in adults or
children? Is there a way to prevent it?. The information that I had found and the information that I will find I’m going to incorporated throughout my research paper. Then after gathering that information from my sources, I will start developing my essay and ideas. I have searched for the effects of dream anxiety disorder and the history behind it, what I have not discovered yet is when was it first diagnosed. This paper I want to introduce it with two paragraphs and interesting background information about Nightmare disorder. Then I will start developing my body paragraphs with the information and topics that I did research on. I’ll conclude my research briefly mentioning my main ideas and supporting my thesis.
